Aircraft

Precision Helicopters has come to rely on the MD500 and MD520 NOTAR series aircraft for utilization in its Operations Department. These aircraft have passed the test of time for reliability and usability. MD500's are fast, maneuverable, safe and just plain fun to fly!

Precision Helicopter's Maintenance Department is an approved MD Service Center. This means, in addition to the high standards of safety and maintenance upkeep that our own facility insists on, we as a company also receive the extra insight, service and assistance from the actual manufacturer of the aircraft we operate.

  OFF-AIRPORT GUIDELINES / LANDING PERMISSION:

If landing helicopters at a location other than at an airport, the customer needs to supply the following to Precision Helicopters, Inc.:

  • Written permission, with Precision Helicopters, Inc. being named, to land at that specific location.
  • GPS Latitude and Longitude coordinates of the exact location.
  • Physical address of the exact location (Address, City, State, Zip Code)
  • Description of the landing zone, i.e.: size, elevation, description of any obstacles such as trees, power lines, light poles, livestock, etc.
  • Contact name and phone number in the area you wish to be picked up and dropped off with the helicopter.

LANDING AREA LIMITATIONS:

Things to consider when requesting a helicopter to land in a certain area are:

  • Size of area (helicopters usually need about 100 foot diameter).
  • Slope of terrain (a flat area is needed for the landing gear and tail rotor clearance).
  • Obstacles (clear of light poles, power lines, tall trees, fences, etc.).
  • Rotor wash will blow dust, tents, tarps, umbrellas, etc. into the air.
  • Livestock (helicopters will spook cows, horses and other animals into fences).
  • City ordinances (check your local laws regarding noise abatement, regulations, etc.).

NOTE: Helicopters are diverse and can serve many needs with speed and convenience. By providing this information, we can be proactive in providing our customers with safe and efficient helicopter services. It is also our responsibility to adhere to federal, state and city regulations as well as to fly neighborly by reducing noise and not negatively impacting the public perception of general aviation.
